Pricing questions
When do I get charged?
Creating your account starts one free 30-day month of Hestia access. No payment method is attached, and you will not be charged automatically. After it ends, you can choose a $12.99/month subscription and review the price before confirming payment.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The free month requires no payment method. If you choose to continue afterward, Stripe or the App Store asks for payment details before the paid subscription begins.
Can I cancel anytime?
The free month ends automatically and does not need to be canceled. After subscribing, cancel anytime from your Hestia account settings or the App Store.
Is there an annual plan?
Not yet. We want you to see the savings month by month first. Annual pricing is coming once we've proven the value.
Why $12.99/month?
Because the app should earn its place quickly. The free month lets you compare planned grocery costs, pantry deductions, and receipt-backed results against your own baseline before you pay.
How should I read the savings examples?
They are modeled planning examples, not guarantees. Your real results depend on household size, current grocery habits, pantry upkeep, store choice, and receipt follow-through. Your first month is free so you can see your own numbers before paying anything.

What's NutriScore? What does "rescued" mean?
NutriScore is a letter grade (A through E) developed by French public health researchers that rates the nutritional quality of food. A = best, E = worst. It weighs fiber, protein, and fruit/veg content against sugar, saturated fat, and sodium. "Rescued" means Hestia found a way to use something you already have, a pantry item near expiry or leftovers from last night, instead of buying new. Every rescued item means less waste and less money spent.
How accurate are the prices?
Prices are estimates from national averages, retailer snapshots where available, and receipt observations. Estimates are marked when we do not have exact local data. Receipt review and in-store scans make your household's numbers more accurate over time.
What if I don't save that much?
Savings depend on your starting habits. If you already meal plan carefully, your savings will be smaller. If you frequently buy items you don't use or order takeout when you have food at home, your savings will be larger. The app shows your actual savings each week so you always know your real numbers. Your first month is free so you can review your household's numbers before paying.
